>Personal Information<
[Personality]
Molsh tempers her passion with intelligence, though in a battle between the two, she's much more liable to rely on emotions than rationality. While a good tactician, she tends to take things on personally. The balance is just right to make a brilliant motivator out of her, sacrificing some professionalism for closeness to her crews. Still, she is often deeply invested in the people around her, which is both a great boon and a crushing weakness.
[Hobbies]
Molsh tends to tinker whenever possible. She might not be as smart or capable as some indie programmers able to make a working computer out of a freezer, but Molsh enjoys her work. Though her creations aren't really worth publishing, it's about the only thing she has time for besides exercise.
[Habits]
Training and the Academy culled most of Molsh's habits (bad or good), but something that's always stuck with her is a tendency to look much more focused and upset than she usually is at any given moment. Chalk it up to never practicing in a mirror.
[Addictions]
Molsh used to be addicted to benzodiazepines, but received treatment so that she could go into the military.
[Biography]
Kreyla Metaya Molsh was raised like any State kid -- separated from the family for the first few years to undergo State education, then returned later on to form personal bonds and emotional intelligence. Her parents were unusually adventurous, and would bring her deep into the wilderness and ruined cities across Brumas to pick through old junk that State prospectors had considered environmentally insignificant enough to leave behind. The story they always told Molsh to keep her close was that the Army bombed these places all the time, and that they wouldn't want to die apart. Just some of the morbid humor that carried her into the future; from a career perspective, she had nothing going for her, but her parents always kept her close and taught her the values of a relationship.
Later on, she sustained a brain injury due to unsafe exploration and had to be placed under a State rehabilitation program. Brain injuries were normally not particularly concerning thanks to the State's advanced medical sciences, but Molsh had a complication. Her youth meant that her brain had already adjusted itself somewhat to cope with the damage. She developed as a trauma savant, having gone mute but obtaining exceptional capacity for spatial awareness and mechanical functions. Rehabilitation took a total of thirteen months as State therapists tried desperately to maintain her abilities, but at the requests of her parents, the medical team overseeing her treatment eventually called it off and repaired the damage in full. Recovery for Molsh was difficult. She went on to use sign language whenever possible, speaking only when she had to. For a time, she would go to no one but her parents, and lived in their care until her early 20's.
The stagnancy got to her. Molsh felt the need to tinker, but was reluctant to go adventuring. Her parents encouraged her to get an education and take a job in engineering. She went fairly overboard on the idea and enrolled in the Akkalah Cosmic Navy Officer School (or ACNOS) with a medical waiver. She failed her first course, but with nowhere else to go, tried again the next year. Although technically within passing range, her training officers requested her to be dropped. On her third year, Molsh finally passed, having battled with frustration and feelings of failure that would only continue once she became an officer. Pursuing an education through the Navy made her feel like nothing more than an idiot who didn't belong. So many others were smarter than her, faster than her, more professional, able to deal with everything. She became a footnote in her classes until the stress forced her to retreat into her quarters every chance she had.
She sought psychiatric help. This helped her along until officer school came to a close and everyone was sent off to their specific fields of study. For Molsh, she chose an engineering school near New Hadric -- the city in which her parents lived -- and often took her lunch breaks with them. Though her mother wanted nothing more than for Molsh to return home for good, her father researched as much as he could and eventually pointed Molsh towards Lieutenant Commander Aldwin Piers, a Navy engineer who worked on the design for carbon baptisms and was now on leave in the city. Molsh found Piers later on and, through some convincing, the two developed a mentor-student relationship that greatly helped her along. He was hard on her for sure, but soon took a liking and turned grueling tasks into a learning experience. In later interviews, Piers recalled Molsh as being like "a lump of gold surrounded by silver bricks. Made of the right stuff, but tempered all wrong".
Through Piers, Molsh became a successful naval engineer. He recommended her for "broadening experience" courses, delving into things she'd never specialized in and hadn't bothered to learn -- surviving in deep space, handling public relations, running a fleet, things of that nature. It came to be that Molsh had a decent head for logistics, running her own military transports for a time. Her crews always had great things to say about her, though her staff officers were noticeably less emphatic. Her reputation earned her captaincy of the ACNV Taste of Gravity during the fleet expansions, and from there she continued to prove her worth until being elevated to Rear Admiral for her exceptional crew records.
