*[Biography]*
Lucan Grave is not exactly a conventional Akkalahan citizen. He is the Head of Cultural Affairs, after all. His childhood was very safe, and secure, with his parents having little domestic troubles throughout their lives, and Grave himself going through the standard educational route during his school years. He would often excel in areas such as history, art, and writing, and went to major in Akkalahan history. He was athletic to a degree, but always had a smaller frame, and was not the kind of person to break a bone. While working through university, he managed to gain himself an internship at the Office of Cultural Affairs (by far the smallest department of the State, if it can even be called that) as a minor assistant during field work operations. After graduating with his major, Grave's life took a turn away from academia. An interaction with a dying relative, a new friend, and the untimely demise of that friend, inspired Grave to enlist into the Akkalahan military. After enduring basic training through both mental and physical aptitude, he was pointed out by Akkalahan officials as a potential candidate for a government program code-named "Cork." This program entailed the development of Akkalahan culture domestically, the spread of it's influence abroad, and the ensured presence of the Akkalahan abroad. Originally being granted a position as a squad leader, Grave's aptitude caused him to quickly rise up the ranks to be one of the leading field officials of the entire office by the age of 32.
Usually, someone in Grave's position takes genetic and cybernetic enhancements to vastly improve their performance, and be granted multiple clones in case of injury. Grave, however, refused to take these when offered, mostly out of principle, and a small fear of surgical procedures. He believes that someone should get the results they want by putting the same amount of effort and work into it, and not just being granted improved abilities. Additionally, he didn't want to have what he believed was an unethical copy of himself sitting in a bacta-tank in a storage warehouse. This inspired his friends and colleagues, but ultimately went to limit his potential maximum performance limit, despite the best amount of daily training he did. This would come to haunt him two years later, when he and three trusted friends came across a large and haphazardly designed station coincidentally built relatively near to Akkalah territory. Scans revealed large numbers of lifeforms, probably indicating a colony, and so the four went in to introduce themselves, and possibly request the removal of the station. Soon after docking their shuttle craft, the leader of the station introduced themselves as slavers of the Okarian Resurgence, after taking the four to top level. Immediately sensing resistance and resentment, he set multiple guards upon the group after requesting they return to their ship. Proving their power against these thugs, despite not having packed full combat gear, the leader had another idea. He told his slaves over the station's loudspeakers that if they took down the Akkalahan personnel, they would be freed. Grave recognized this as desperation, but didn't want to harm innocents. He ordered the other three to holster their weapons, and try to bruise or knockout the slaves as they reached the shuttle. They were soon overwhelmed with numbers, and taken captive. No one assumed they were missing as field workers were usually gone for a long period of time, and the four had disabled any trackers to try and have some fun without spying eyes. By the time Akkalahan special operations stormed the station in a rescue mission four weeks later, they found three bodies, and a heavily tortured Grave among them. They had been tortured, and when that hadn't proved enough to break them, they were forced into a gladiatorial arena for the crews entertainment, and injected with highly volatile, performance enhancing toxins. Grave had been utterly broken, but still had hope. Fading in and out of consciousness, with unknown chemicals flowing through his veins, he was eventually stabilized, but at great cost to his body. The only way to recover was either through genetic therapy or cybernetic conversion, and after a week in a coma, Grave had the lucky pick. He chose the former, and so the work begun. All of his prior genetic enhancements, such as minor eyesight improvements, had to be torn out and replaced due to toxic damage. Within two months, recovery was complete, and he only needed to pass some tests to prove he was capable of normal functions. By the time he walked out, Grave was a changed man. His genetics and body has been significantly improved, beyond the point of recognition. His immune system had to be bolstered to be able to cope with the increased toxin dosage, but this has had the side effect of allowing Grave to take performance enhancing products similar to the ones forcefully injected into him if necessary, albeit in a much more humane, clean, and convenient manner. His eyes are now cybernetic, one of the many minor enhancements to mostly his brain region. They weren't necessary for his survival, but were installed to make his quality of life much easier.
Thanks to the prevalence of hyper intelligence programs such as Daughter, most of the bureaucratic assignments of his position can be completed by on-board computers installed into the Expeditionary Task Force, or thanks to the aforementioned enhancements, done subconsciously through Grave's interface to the Net, when available. This allows Grave to do much more field work, while having a much more flexible schedule, without being bogged down by paperwork.
One day, Grave hopes to retire to a Mediterranean planet with a few loved ones and close friends, and truly enjoy the rest of his life. But that dream is a long way away, and he has a lot of work to get done in the mean time.
